This area contains personal hobbies and selected practical projects from different areas, such as photography or webdesign.
Webdesign
As the webmaster of the badminton department within the TV 1848 Erlangen I designed, programmed and maintain the wesite, providing information about the club, tournaments, leagues, etc.

Travelling
Having grown up with two different cultures and having travelled from birth on, I love to experience other countries, spending time in areas off the beaten tourist paths, soaking up the culture of a place and getting to know the people there. Via renting a car, hiking and hitchhiking I have travelled through countries like the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, Austria, Switzerland, Denmark, Norway, France, Spain, England, Ireland, Wales, Slovenia, Croatia, Greece, Morocco, the USA, Canada, Jamaica, Singapore, Australia, and New Zealand.
Photography
On every journey I like to bring my camera, trying to capture the atmosphere of a place or culture. A small selection of my newest pictures can be seen via an online gallery.

Badminton
It is not a very well known sport in Germany, but for the past 10 years I have been playing badminton as a competitive sport in official leagues and tournaments, hoping that some time it will gain as much respect as it has in Asia. The combination of speed, technique, strength, tactics, and teamplay make it a very demanding and fascinating sport.
Climbing
As a balance to the indoor sport badminton, I like to train my body and mind through freeclimbing on rocks in the nature. A route can only be climbed if physical fitness and the psyche are prepared for its demands. It is a fantastic sport also for training trust in the belaying partner.
Piano
One of my favourite ways to free my mind is to play the piano. For the past 17 years I have been primarily studying classical pieces, Chopin being my favourite, but also my most challenging composer - as I find his pieces to be beautiful and highly difficult at the same time.
Reading
Reading novels for relaxation or textbooks for information is another hobby I enjoy. I especially enjoy books about countries I am planning to travel to, as they are essential preparation and still entertaining.
